Youth Worker in Charge

cThe Bognor Youth project is a new initiative for young people aged 10-17 residing in Bognor Regis and surrounding areas by providing them with a safe haven where they can meet up, make new friends be safe and get support.

We are currently looking for a Youth worker in charge, who will take lead and work alongside the founder of the project, in deliver and run a scheme of Social, fun and engaging, youth projects where young people can come to and learn, as well as make new friends, get support look to a brighter future.

**Your Responsibilities will include**:
Providing for the social, personal, educational and leisure needs of young people by assisting in the running, organisation and delivery of the Bognor youth projects.
- Establishing positive relationships with all young people supporting and enabling them to increase their confidence and realise their potential, fully integrating them into all project activities.
- Coordinating resources and developing opportunities and activities for young people which reflects their particular needs and circumstances.
- Facilitating the active involvement of the young people in the planning and development of the project programme.
- Facilitating the positive integration of young people with disabilities, behavioural difficulties and/or special needs within the project.
- Mentoring young people by supporting positive behaviours, delivering life-skills sessions and workshops.
- Assisting young people in identifying progression opportunities and providing on-going transition support for those moving into college, employment, apprenticeships or further learning.
- Monitoring and evaluating projects with young people and staff, providing reports as required to the Board of Trustees.
- Supporting young people to gain accreditation through their involvement in projects
- Supporting young people to raise money for activities through fundraising.
- Adhering to organisation policies and procedures in respect of safeguarding young people.
- Supporting and guiding volunteers, trainees in all of the above, as required.
- Working as a member of the Youth project team to ensure the safety and well-being of the young people, including day to day ‘housekeeping’ of the site and maintenance of equipment.
- Liaising with parents, carers and other organisations and professionals as required.
- Carrying out health and safety inspections as required.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- As the Youth Worker in charge you will be required to show qualifications of at least a NVQ Level 3 or above in Youth Work or a related field
- You will be able to show a good knowledge and understanding of how to support and safeguard young people and understand the importance of doing this.
- Experience of working with young people
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people within informal settings, including children and young people with different communication needs
- Be able to recognise and respond appropriately to behaviour which challenges.

**Salary**: £12.00-£13.00 per hour
