4YP are seeking to recruit Detached Youth Workers to join our existing multidisciplinary team of youth workers and volunteers.

Detached youth work provides informal and social education and takes place where young people “are at” both geographically and developmentally. Detached youth work’s primary purpose is to inform young people of services that exist in their locality and to encourage them to use them, or work with them to better understand their needs and develop new provision in their community.

This post requires a youth worker with energy and strong engagement skills to develop work with young people more at risk who may be disconnected from mainstream services. 4YP detached youth work engages with children and young people in a range of locations in the Ipswich and Kesgrave areas.

A significant portion of the hours will be undertaken in the late afternoon and/or early evening as detached youth work usually takes place either after school or from 7pm - 9.30pm.
