**Job overview**:
Due to permanent investment from our successful project of ‘Implementing the national timed oesophago-gastric cancer pathway’ across Greater Manchester, we are looking for a part-time Dietetic Assistants to support our ongoing work.

The role will ensure that every patient with an UGI cancer diagnosis receives timely nutritional monitoring and advice preparing them for their treatment pathway.

You will join our expanding Gastro Dietetic Team consisting of an ACP, 4 Band 7s, 9 Band 6s, 1 Band 5 and 3 Dietetic assistants.

**Main duties of the job**:
The role will involve working alongside the Dietitians and Dietetic Assistant in UGI cancer to deliver the best possible care for patients across GM. You will support our patients during diagnosis; preparing them for oncological and surgical treatment as part of the OG cancer pathway.

The role will involve face-face contact with inpatients including delivery of our snack round and arranging home enteral feed discharges, You will have your own outpatient caseload of follow up calls to assess tolerance to supplements and dietetic treatment plan. This is a primarily clinical role but will include administrative tasks associated with the management of UGI patients.

A formal Assistant Practitioner qualification is desirable, but a similar alternative qualification would be accepted and willingness to work towards this qualification.

We require a motivated, compassionate and dynamic person to work within this established service. Ideally you will have experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team, experience of treating patients and working in an acute setting with patients. Good communication skills, empathy and flexibility are essential qualities.

- Previous experience of working in healthcare

**Desirable criteria**:

- Familiar and experienced with working on a ward
- Enteral tube feeding
- Experience of feeding or supporting patients at mealtimes

- IT skills including Word and Excel
- Good communication skills

- Working within an MDT or team working
