**Education & professional Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:

- MBBS or equivalent
- On the specialist register of the General Medical Council (GMC) for the relevant specialty
- Registered with the GMC and within 6 months (at the scheduled time of the advisory appointments committee) of being accepted for the specialist register
- FCEM or equivalent

**Desirable criteria**:

- Postgraduate medical degree

**Experience**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Clinical training and experience in the relevant specialty, equivalent to that required to gain entry to the UK Certificate of Completed Training (CCT) in Emergency Medicine
- Experience of and commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
- Experience of, and commitment to medical audit
- Current ATLS,APLS or/and ALS

**Desirable criteria**:

- Instructor in ATLS, APLS or/and ALS
- Ultrasound skills
- Special interest with extended experience in other specialty eg paediatrics)

**Skills and aptitudes**:
**Essential criteria**:

- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Aptitude for teaching and training
- Ability to cover on call.
- Demonstrable commitment to multidisciplinary team working
- Positive approach to lessons learnt
