Job Title: Cook

Reporting To: Supervisor or Deputy / Manager and working with Head Cook.

Job Purpose:
Prepares and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other events.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

- Ability to communicate effectively at all times and at all level
- Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
- Satisfactory disclosure Scotland check
- Basic food Hygiene certificate
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Two references

Desired:

- Experience of food preparation for the relevant Client group
- Food Hygiene Certificate

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Food Preparation
1. Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals.
2. Provide for special dietary requirements where necessary and take into account preferences of individual clients.
Communication
1. Plan menus that provide a balanced nutritious diet, making the best use of fresh foods.
2. Participate in staff meetings as and when required.
Record Keeping
1. Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer and fridge temperatures
2. Ensure stock rotation
3. Order food and ensure deliveries are checked properly.
Training and development
1. Attend all mandatory training courses on or off site when required
2. Highlight areas of training that would be of benefit to your job.
Health and safety
1. Ensure statutory Health and safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas
2. Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the overall cleaning of the kitchen area (and where appropriate, the dining areas) is carried out effectively.
3. Report immediately to the Home manager, or person in charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self or another.
4. Understand and ensure the implementation of Fairfield cares Health and Safety policy and emergency fire procedures.
5. Report to the Home Manager or Handy person, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any other potential hazard.
6. Promote Safe working practice within the premises.
General
1. Notify the home Manager, or person in charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also your return to work after periods of absence.
2. Be aware of, and at all time comply with all relevant company polices including fire arrangements, health and safety issues including moving and handling, COSHH regulations maintain records diligently and accurately as required.
3. Maintain good working relationships with Colleagues at all times
4. Greet all visitors, residents and answer the phone in a courteous and efficient manner and promote company and the unit in which you work in particular positively at all time

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £20,195.00-£25,437.00 per year
