**Directorate Overview**
- In Financial Market Infrastructure Directorate (FMID) you will join a directorate at the heart of the Bank, responsible for supervision, policy and technical risk analysis on the financial system’s infrastructure - payment systems, central counterparties and central securities depositories. **Job description**
- An opportunity has arisen for a
- **Technical Specialist** to join the
- **Operational Risk and Resilience Team**. The team is positioned as the technical team for Operational Risk and Resilience disciplines within the Financial Market Infrastructure Directorate, providing in-depth technical advice to supervisory and regulatory judgement on these topics. The team covers a diverse portfolio of non-financial risk and resilience (operational risk and resilience, technology risk, cyber, outsourcing and third-party risk management (including Cloud), business continuity and disaster recovery) across the full range of Financial Market Infrastructure (FMI) providers (from UK Central Counter Parties to UK Payment Systems). You will be shaping our strategy and programme of review work to support delivery of operational resilience across our FMIs and develop operational resilience capabilities within the Directorate. Working alongside Supervision, your work will ensure FMI providers are operationally robust and resilient under both stable and stress conditions. The team works across multiple disciplines within Operational Risk and Resilience. In addition to knowledge and experience of delivering Operational resilience outcomes, we are looking for someone to join the team with specific experience of technology risk and resilience.
- In this role you will be leading the development and delivering of our Operational Resilience Strategy; using your technical knowledge to provide advice and analysis that support regulatory judgements around firms ability to operate under stable and stress conditions. You will also provide ongoing support and input into Supervisory discussions and initiatives for these areas.
- The role is well suited to someone with an operational or technology risk background and experience of delivering assessments on these topics and across a across multiple workstreams. You will play a key role in developing our operational risk and resilience strategy and shaping our expectations against new Policy initiatives and Principles for Financial Market Infrastructure (PFMI) regulatory framework. In this role you will:

- Lead technical assessments and deep dive reviews, to inform supervisory judgements and drive operational resilience outcomes across FMIs
- Provide thoughtful and constructive technical advice to colleagues on Operational Risk and Resilience issues, offering solutions and defining good risk management/resilience practices where appropriate. Helping others form a strategy around findings from risk reviews and recommended actions.
- Demonstrate sound judgement, including where there may be limited information available, using your knowledge and experience to make informed decisions on issues relating to Operational Risk and Resilience.
- Support the workflow of the team by triaging requests for technical support outside of agreed priorities.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal (and external) stakeholders across Supervision and cross-Bank Operational Resilience teams.
