The position of Occupational Health Specialist is available at our Trowbridge, Wiltshire location, and is offered as a hybrid working arrangement. This role will play a crucial part in implementing a new Occupational Health system and will collaborate closely with our HR Advisory team to evaluate our current Occupational Health services at the council. Our current Occupational Health Service offers managers specialist clinical advice to manage sickness absence, provides health surveillance techniques to minimise work-related illnesses, ensures that new employees are fit for their roles, and identifies any necessary adjustments under the Equality Act. The council incurs costs exceeding £5 million each year due to accidents, ill health, and poor employee wellbeing. The postholder will be responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering policies, strategic plans, and programs to provide corporate Occupational Health services. They will also provide expert occupational health advice and leadership to support and inform the commissioning and delivery of services across the local authority sector, including schools and academies. Postholders will use information and intelligence systems to support occupational health actions and lead the collation and interpretation of the relevant data. They will also oversee a team of staff, including specialist professionals from different disciplines, and act as authorised signatories and budget holders. Additionally, the post-hers will commission audits and projects and translate the findings into occupational health practice.
