**About the role**
Balfour Beatty Power Transmission and Distribution (BBPTD) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Environment Sustainability Advisor** with a specialism in carbon to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team. We offer the opportunity for a mix of working from home, project based site work and at our main office. The BBPTD Environment and Sustainability Team has a wide background of team players, with a project hands-on approach, who support each other and their projects on environment and sustainability matters to look after the local environment and facilitate project delivery and business and group strategy.

This role will see you working within the E&S Function working with and supporting operational teams, project engineers and managers to track and report and report on carbon performance and helping deliver a culture of continual improvement. You will work with project teams and the wider business to lead in the delivery of PAS2080 accreditation.

**What you'll be doing**
- Develop a Carbon Management Plan template and associated processes and templates which are compliant with PAS 2080
- Manage the implementation and maintenance of project Carbon Management Plans across the businesses;
- Manage and deliver the technical input for the Certification to PAS 2080 (maintain evidence, attendance in audits etc.);
- Maintain a carbon and resources opportunity register across Power T&D as per the PAS 2080 process
- Review and assure all deliverables related to carbon, such as LCA reports updated at each key project gateway
- Provide technical expertise/ support to the Environmental and Design teams;
- Promote and encourage low carbon solutions to the relevant construction, procurement and design teams;
- Develop and deliver against a carbon modelling/data strategy [incl. Scheme Carbon Baselining]
- Provide carbon training and materials for design, construction and environmental colleagues.
- Ensure carbon reporting (for both BB and the supply chain) is recorded and communicated during the construction stages.
- Develop close relationships with our clients to influence client policy and showcase our carbon leadership;
- Support with asphalt, concrete and steel low carbon innovations and pilots
- Support with the development of Project/Business dashboards

**Who we're looking for**
The following qualities/ experience are desirable:

- A science-based background i.e. relevant BSc or equivalent qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Carbon, Energy or similar;
- Sustainability/carbon/energy or similar MSc is desirable;
- A sound understanding of carbon impact/mitigation issues on major infrastructure schemes;
- Working knowledge of LCA reporting;
- Understanding of GHG reporting standards, guidance and regulatory regimes for example PAS 2080;
- Experience in integrating low carbon and resilient solutions into infrastructure design or during the construction phase of a scheme;
- Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills;
- Member of a professional body.
