Reporting to the Head of Settlement and Invoicing, the Senior Product Owner is responsible for development of the digital solution across multiple products. They will be responsible for articulating business needs, and designing appropriate solutions working in collaboration with the Delivery Leads, Technical Leads and other shared resources matrixed into the product (including third party service providers). The role holder will ensure that the Products are designed to meet the obligations and requirements in the codes/contracts it delivers against.
Market wide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS) will require the creation of four new services specified in the Ofgem-approved MHHS Target Operating Model. The new systems and the new service will operate on our cloud platform, Elexon Kinnect. The core role for the Senior Product Owner will be to lead a product team of insourced and outsourced resources to deliver the product lifecycle of the new MHHS systems.
Due to the complex nature of the MHHS arrangements, experience in the supplier volume allocation arrangements is essential. The Senior Product Owner will have experience in both Scaled Agile and Waterfall Project management methodologies, solution architecture and business analysis.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Team Management**
- Works closely with the Project Manager to manage a team of direct reports and matrixed resources responsible for all aspects of product delivery and change.
- Deputises for Head of Settlement and Invoicing where required, including management of the Product Team.
- Coaches Product Owners to support their personal development plans.
- **Product Vision**
- Contributes to the development of the Product Vision & Strategy.
- Contributes to and maintain the Product Roadmap.
- Anticipates future opportunities informed by direction of industry transformation and future needs of the energy market
- Keeps under review the product capability maturity required to deliver the vision including definition of requirements for product sourcing strategy
- Seeks out opportunities for reducing cost of service
- **Product Design**
- Accountable for the cross Product delivery of high-quality detailed analysis to create effective requirements, user stories, processes and operating model design elements.
- Conduct high quality detailed analysis (interviews, workshops and research) to understand business challenges.
- Accountable for the creation of business cases required to support Product change.
- Accountable for the development and approval of Business/Customer Process Change Impact Assessments.
- Support business readiness by identifying the impact of change upfront, and ensuring necessary steps are in place to support a smooth transition.
- Accountable for Product Change Management process.
- Accountable for vendor testing result approval and sign off.
- Accountable for benefit tracking & investment case maintenance.
- Responsible for prioritising developments and managing Product backlog.
- Responsible for developing plans and roadmaps based on clear assumptions and available information, estimating timescales, sequencing and dependencies.
- Ensure product deliveries and solutions are in-line with ELEXON’s enterprise objectives.
- Manage transition into service of developments and support the Product operation in reaching a state of readiness.
- Support the business with root cause analysis and definition of future Change Requests for any incidents that are a result of products delivered.
- Contribute to longer-term plans, working with other members of Product team.
- Design and maintain business process and operating models.
- Identify connections and dependencies between change initiatives, escalating appropriately.
- Continuously develop your own knowledge of the Product and its benefits to ELEXON’s parties and the wider industry.
- Embrace Elexon Product technologies - understanding how they work with our people and business processes.
- Ensure current scope of work aligns to OKRs and support evaluation of trade-offs between outcomes with sound business cases and options papers.
- Report status effectively, anticipating challenges and dependencies, and influencing relevant stakeholders to respond appropriately.
- Creates a list of backlog items
- Maps out dependencies
- Prioritises items based on overall strategy
- Contributes to the planning, execution, and review of each sprint
- Works with team to refine and improve the development process
- Is accountable for each stage of the development process and final process
- Inspects and evaluates product progress through each iteration
- **Support Product Project Management resources in a number of additional project activities**:

- Project Mandate
- Project Resource Planner
- Review and Approve high and low-level design artefacts
- Build Quality Assurance
- Internal (UAT) testing
- Go live sign off / service delivery acceptance
- Governance (Tolerances / Escalations agreements)
