Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Assistant Cook to join our team at St. Peter's Primary School in South Croydon. As an Assistant Cook, you will work closely with our catering team to help prepare and cook meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our pupils and staff receive high-quality and delicious food.

**Please note that this is a term time only position**

**Duties**:

- Assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals according to recipes and food safety guidelines
- Assist with the supervision of catering team
- Help with meal planning and portion control to minimize waste
- Collaborate with the catering team to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Assist in receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies
- To comply with the school's Health and Safety Policies and all hygiene related guidelines
- Cover for head cook in their absence
- Use of till systems and connected software (training will be provided)
- Ordering stock when necessary (training will be provided)
- Assist with the cleaning of kitchen equipment and catering areas

**Experience**:

- Previous experience working in a kitchen or restaurant setting is preferred
- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation methods
- Familiarity with food safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Basic IT skills preferable, but not essential.
- Good sense of humour

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £16,000.00 per year
