About The Role

**Location**:Torquay
- **Days & Hours**:10 hours a week, 2 days a week initially 1 shift at the weekend and one during the week however, there is scope for these hours to be flexible across the week longer term. Working flexibly face to face with Sarah and completing administrative and training requirements. There may be scope to pick up extra hours for absences of the current team.**Pay**:
**Weekdays**: £14.50 per hour.
- **Weekends**: £15.00 per hour**Driver required? **A car driver would be an advantage as there may be times when Sarah needs to be taken to appointments or food shopping needs to be purchased.**Using Own Vehicle for work purposes?** Yes, On duty and to attend trainings (business insurance will be required and a mileage allowance will be paid)
- **Essential**:Supporting individuals to reach their potential
- **Desirable**: Experience working with elderly adults- Sarah, born in 1937 is very welcoming and chatty lady. She lives in a flat with wonderful sea views. She enjoys having conversations about programmes that she has watched, reminiscing about the past and being pampered with her nail care. She prefers to be at home in her flat but will enjoy a spur of the moment walk around the gardens with her support worker.

Sarah experiences difficulties with her short-term memory and can become anxious in situations that are new to her, or when meeting new people. She would like someone to join her small care and support team to provide companionship and help with making appointments, household chores, and assist her to enjoy a range of activities.

Sarah hopes to find someone who enjoys their work, has interesting things to talk about and can support her to remain as independent as possible at home.

This job will suit someone who is lively and fun but also calm when needed, a good listener who is non-judgemental, proactive and able to stimulate ideas and discussion and be able to bring lots of enthusiasm to the role. The support worker needs to be confident when working autonomously but also works effectively as a team.

**Pay and Benefits**:
**Weekdays**: £14.50 per hour.
- **Weekends**: £15.00 per hour- On-going training & support provided- 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata- Free DBS check.**In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered**:

- Induction,
- Relevant training opportunities (including The Care Certificate),
- Regular clinical supervision/review meetings,
- On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department

- Experience with working in elderly care
- Confident and comfortable working in Sarah’s own home
- Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Sarah's needs
- Can demonstrate empathy and understanding in an appropriate and professional manner

- Can develop productive and professional relationships with others

- Can maintain an excellent level of confidentiality
- Good verbal & written communication skills and IT literate
- Able to think creatively and to use initiative
- Willingness to work flexibly and cover shifts, sometimes at short notice
- A full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed)
