Randstad Student & Worker Support is looking for reliable and committed individuals to work with students at Plymouth University as soon as possible to provide notetaking/practical support.

Key duties/responsibilities: Notetaking support:

- Providing note taking support to students suffering from disabilities/mental health conditions your responsibilities will include:
- Producing accurate and legible notes for lectures, seminars/tutorials, and group tasks
- Reviewing notes at the end of the lecture and ensuring that they are in a suitable format for the student to access effectively
- Maintaining a professional role as a notetaker and being aware of the need to maintain this professional relationship with the student at all times
- Acting in the best interests of learners at all times whilst also working within the policies and procedures of the institution
- You will work closely with Randstad regarding the needs of individual students, and to ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. You will be expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.

Practical support:

- The purpose of this role is to support disabled students to develop their independence and autonomy in Higher Education (HE) by providing practical support around the campus throughout their time at university.
- Providing practical support to assist a student with a physical impairment in manoeuvring around the campus.
- Opening doors for the student, ensuring pathways are clear
- Carrying books, IT equipment etc.
- General orientation and support in finding out where things are located for students whose disability means that they have problems with orientation. Social support in order to ensure access to the wider aspects of student life You will work closely with Randstad regarding the needs of individual students, ensuring that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. You will be expected to act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.
Requirements: - Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills
- Flexibility and punctuality
- Ability to work independently
- Patient and enthusiastic
- Ability to support student to develop their independence
- Willingness to carry out practical tasks
- Understanding of role boundaries, and awareness of issues which may arise in this context whilst carrying out the role
- Have neat handwriting - able to produce notes in a legible and presentable manner
- Good typing skills - preferable
- Accurate spelling and grammar skills
- Degree (Desirable)
