The hospital is located in Dorchester, within West Dorset, a rural area of outstanding natural beauty including the Jurassic Coast. Dorset has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the United Kingdom, as well patients with significant inflammatory skin disease. The Trust is committed to provide a high quality Dermatology service, reflected by an existing strong team including 2 Consultants, Associate Specialist, Specialty doctors, Nurse specialists and Skin Cancer nurses. There is a desire to further recruit and consolidate skills.

The range of Dermatology services includes Skin Cancer diagnosis and treatment, Dermatological Surgery, management of severe inflammatory dermatoses including systemic and biologic therapies, Phototherapy, Photodynamic therapy, Paediatric dermatology. It has access to Specialist Dermatopathology (Dr Taibjee).

It provides education and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals. Ongoing research includes the field of Keratoacanthoma and participation in the BADBIR national database for patients on biologics.
