Nursery Practioner

SVQ3 or HNC Childhood Practice or equivalent essential.

Nursery Practitioners are responsible to the Nursery Manager, Senior Practitioner and the Nursery Owner.

**Duties will include**:

- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team ensuring the effective daily running of the nursery adhering to the nursery Policies and Procedures, the Children Act and other relevant legislation including all Local Authority and The Care Inspectorate requirements. Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.
- Care for and supervise the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
- Plan and prepare activities to meet the individual needs of all the children, liaise with parents ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
- Offer all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background.
- Keeping of development records and observations.
- Positive management of children’s behaviour.
- Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment.
- Supervision and effective mentoring of Nursery Assistants and Students.
- Provide a good role model for Nursery Assistants and Students and help new staff to fit into the Nursery.
- Keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records.
- Supervise children’s mealtimes and snack times, where appropriate, preparation of babies’ bottles.
- Housekeeping duties.
- Attendance of staff meetings as arranged by the Nursery Manager or Owner.
- Participate in regular parents’ evenings, publicity, open weekends and children’s outings.
- Undertake core training courses as required by post.
- Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager and Nursery Owner.
