The room leader is responsible for:
**Ensuring high quality childcare and education is provided in a safe and clean room.**

**Ensuring she/he is a role model for staff including high levels of professionalism and standardsof appearance.**

**Coaching, mentoring and supervising the Nursery practitioners within the room ensuring they are fulfilling their rolesand responsibilities.**

**Providing support to the Nursery Manager.**

**Carrying out termly supervisions, observations and cohort tracking.**Ensuring the Early Years Foundation Stage is embedded and adhered to.

**Being creative and imaginative within your room**

**Ensuring the Key Person’s information is up to date.**

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Duties:
1.To oversee the day to day running of the room

2.To be approachable for parents and staff

3.To be responsible for the care, well-beingand safety of all children and staff.

4.To ensure high standards of care and education are maintained.

5.To take an active role within the senior management team.

6.To ensure the base room runs smoothly and is clean, tidy and presentable at all times.

7.To ensureadherence to health and safety policies and practice and ensure risk assessments are completed timely.

8.To ensure all room and Nursery policies and procedures are adheredto.

9.To respect and maintain confidentiality.

10.To inform the Nursery Manager of any problems, children’s illnesses and absences.

11.To induct, train, coach, mentor and supervise the Nursery practitioners.

12.To identify training needs.

13.To organise room meetings to ensure good team working and motivation, information sharing and planning.

14.To carry out assessments and cohort tracking.

15.To ensure the children’s dietary and allergy needs are met and all staff are aware.

16.To ensure the children’s SEND needs are met and all staff are aware.

17.To liaise effectively with the SENDCo.

18.To ensure all concerns regarding safeguarding and child protectionare responded to promptly and appropriately following policies and procedures.

19.To lead and develop the team practice with regards to the Early Years Foundation Stage.

20.To oversee planning, observation and assessment on a regular basis.

21.To communicate effectively with parents and other visitors to the Nursery.

22.To assume responsibility for opening and closing the Nursery as directed by the Nursery Manager.

23.To provide management cover as directed by the Nursery Manager.

24.To ensure the children’s learning needs, likes, interests and next steps are recorded and incorporated into planning.

25.To ensure a wide variety of challenging activities are provided to meet children’s interests and next steps in learning.

26.To ensure the procedure of settling in anew child or child who is transitioning, is effective, timely and professional.

27.To ensure messages are passed to the appropriate person and any requests for information are dealt with same day/next day.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From £28,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

**Experience**:

- Nursery: 2 years (preferred)
- room leader: 1 year (required)
