**Where?**

Short break service, Harelands house and Leighton house. When required you will be asked to work in various location to best meet the needs of individuals we provide services to.


**Rewards**

We offer a competitive waking night hourly rate paying £12.10 per hour.

You will have the chance to progress, we give you training to help you gain your care certificate.

**Who do you report to?**

On a day-to-day basis, you will be working under the direction of a Team Leader, but accountable to a House manager.

**The hours**

Our service users’ needs come first, so we need a lot of flexibility when it comes to your working hours. weekends; and Bank Holidays.

**The essential purpose of this job**

We support Adults with learning disabilities, autism, dementia, mental Health and acquired brain injuries. They are vulnerable, that’s why they need support. That doesn’t mean they cannot decide for themselves what kind of support they want, how they want it and what services they want to access.

We’ll teach you all about positive risk taking and how to encourage it so that individuals can live as normal a life as possible.

Just like you, they and their families have a right to dignity, diversity and to be an individual. You are there to make sure that these things are respected and maintained.

You may be asked to provide support services for children and young people. We expect our staff to demonstrate positive attitudes and be a positive role model whilst supporting children and young people

**Your general duties whilst supporting Adults during the night**

To follow the agreed night time routines for the person as set out in the person-centred plan; and respond to individual needs.

Assist with the implementation and monitoring of Person-Centred Plans with a view to maximising independence.

To be alert to any specific changes in a person’s behaviour which might indicate that the person is unwell or requires extra support.

Carry out and accurately document observations and support on individuals as outlined in their person-centred plan.

Participate in a comprehensive handover at the beginning and end of your shift.

Monitor safe systems including assistive technology and respond in line with procedures, individual person-centred plans, risk assessments and DOLs.

Help maintain a high standard of living for individuals including, cleaning laundry, ironing, home maintenance and other aspects of a domestic nature as far as this fall within the scope of the post holder.

Support service users to maintain their health and wellbeing including support with administering prescribed medication and identified health needs outlined in individual Health Action Plans and in accordance with PossAbilities policies and procedures.

Provide support with personal care needs ensuring high standards of hygiene are maintained all times and, as appropriate, support the emotional needs of people using services.

Support and assist individuals who may be reliant on moving and positioning equipment, including wheelchairs.

Ensure all security measures are in place before the sleep-in staff retire or leave, with special attention paid to unplugging unnecessary electrical appliances, and being aware of the procedure to be followed in the event of an emergency or fire.

To respond to emergencies correctly, reporting to statutory service where necessary and support people to keep safe and well. This may also include attending hospital for emergency medical care.

To identify and report any signs or suspicions of abuse or neglect in line with our safeguarding policy and Care Act requirements.

**Your secondary duties (all service user groups)**

You may be required to attend staff meetings and, as directed and appropriate, participate in case conferences, etc.

Maintain a working knowledge of routine fire safety, health and safety, medication and safeguarding in line with procedures of Possabilities and current legislation.

Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of people the service supports, work colleagues and others, to report any risk to the line manager.

Be familiar with and work within the organisation’s policies and procedures, maintaining records and reports accordingly. ,

Keep senior staff informed regarding the service user’s development, welfare and other matters. As directed, to provide written information regarding the same.
