Greater Manchester, United Kingdom Catch22 Full time

Company Description

Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose - we call these our '3Ps'.

We achieve this in two ways. First we improve lives on the frontline through delivery of public services. Secondly, we use our knowledge to change 'the system', to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity, and the mindset of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

**National Citizen Service**

NCS offers a range of experiences for young people, that support them to become world ready and work-ready, through growing their confidence, independence, and skills - connecting them with people from all walks of life, and empowering them to make a difference in their communities, and across wider society.

Over the last decade, more than 700,000 young people have taken part in the National Citizens Service, completing over 15 million hours of community based social action, and gaining priceless life experiences.

We aim to create a more socially cohesive society, and we encourage young people to seize opportunities, and actively engage in civic life - facing the future with confidence, with an appreciation and tolerance of different views and perspectives.

**Job Description**:
The role of **Assistant Team Leader **is an excellent opportunity to encourage, motivate, and inspire teams of young people, to make the most of their NCS experience, and help them to develop transferable skills for their future. In this role, you will support a generation of young people to take part in NCS experiences, at pivotal moments in their lives.

Through our community experiences, we are seeking to provide young people with regular activities close to home, giving them more choice, and flexibility, in how they engage with a year-round NCS offer:

- Developing life skills and supporting independent living
- Building employability and work-readiness
- Providing opportunities for volunteering and social action
- Enabling social mixing of young people from all backgrounds
- **Manchester region - Stockport.**:

- **Flexible programmes, with a choice of start dates.**:

- **Sessional contract, with all year round 16 hour long experiences.**

**About You**
- A great communicator, with experience and understanding of the issues affecting young people, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues, with tact and diplomacy.
- Creative, flexible, dynamic, punctual, and reliable, with a commitment to personal and professional development.
- Able to work well with others in a team, to ensure a professional service.
- The ability to organise your own work routines effectively, working on your own initiative, to an agreed action plan.

**Main Duties and Accountabilities**
- Leading, encouraging, and motivating a team of up to fifteen young people, to complete an NCS Community Experience - including supporting skill-building sessions.
- Working with the NCS staff team, to deal with challenging behaviour from young people - ensuring that any matters for concern are reported immediately to the NCS Team Leader, and supporting the completion of any necessary reporting (such as safeguarding and incident reports).
- Engaging with young people and their parents/carers, to build positive relationships, and providing effective support on a one-to-one or group basis - to achieve NCS outcome targets, and ensure a quality NCS experience for young people.
- Ensuring that programme content is relevant to the local community and builds on existing relationships with partner individuals and organisations - ensuring that community and citizenship values are learnt by young people within their local environment.
- Assisting the NCS Team Leader in ensuring that necessary and appropriate safeguarding, data handling, health and safety, and other legal requirements are in place, to protect NCS participants and staff.
- Assisting in ensuring that in-kind funding opportunities are maximised, and on or above target.
- Attending regular supervision sessions, and compulsory training, to enable all duties to be carried out effectively.
