Challenge particular patients, visitors and staff, where difficult circumstances prevail (e.g., smokers, abuse issues, vagrants and unwelcome visitors) Demonstrate duties and activities to new starters and less experienced colleagues supporting induction and mandatory training, giving advice, guidance, and supervision with respect to carrying out their particular function. Ensure control systems operate effectively i.e., possess keyboard skills and manual dexterity associated with CCTV, access control related software and alarm systems. Knowledge of the hospital layout, usage and key stakeholders / contact points.

Monitor and coordinate the reaction to any alarm activations. Carry out analyses regarding fault finding and investigate to resolve issues e.g., basic alarm issues. Maintain records of all related incidents and provide reports for the Car Parking & Security Manager or Head of Security Maintain all security related activities on a rota basis. Maintain contingency plans in the event of incidents including lockdown and escorts.

Assist patients / clients / visitors during contact as required. Log and review all complaints, incidents and comments. Ensure security regarding cash collections are adequately controlled. Lost property must be secured, and all assets generally secured in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Contribute to quality initiatives and comment on proposals for changes in working practices. Ensure electronic records (where they apply) and physical records are maintained accurately for all related aspects of responsibility. Keep evidence in such a format that the Trust can demonstrate that controls are in place for all objectives and risks associated with areas of responsibility and that reporting supervisors and staff do the same. In relation to security role ensure CCTV images, information and transcribing minutes which could be used in court proceedings must always be held highly secure.

Specific patient policies must be applied. Undertake surveys or audits as necessary to own work, including completing surveys. Whilst working in the CCTV role there will be a frequent requirement to sit or stand in a restricted position for most of the shift. There will be occasional (and for short periods a frequent possibility) requirement to carry out controlled restraint in line with conflict resolution techniques for aggressive patients, visitors, and staff.

Regularly check that the building is secure outside normal office hours by carrying out irregular patrols of all Trust facilities internally and externally and record all patrols on guard tour ensuring any unusual events occurrences are escalated as required Carry out a full range of security duties in accordance with agreed policies and procedures Maintain effective communication links through the correct use of radio, bleep systems and correct terminology Issue emergency radios as required in the event of telephone bleep system failure Lock and alarm departments as required, external doors & gates as laid down in Trust lockdown procedures and ensure the Hospital is secure at all times Assist in the search for missing patients and if necessary, escalate the search by contacting local police Maintain any scene of crimes Provide a first point of contact for fire brigade, police and emergency ambulance service dependent upon situation and give advice and guidance accordingly. In accordance with the major incident plan, carry out duties as detailed Provide an escort service to members of staff moving around the hospital after dark as requested Provide an escort service for the movement of cash and valuables Ensure all emergency routes and one-way systems are free at all times To provide reports and monitoring information as required in order to produce performance reports and to demonstrate achievement of Key Performance Indicators. Compilation of monthly KPI reports and any other departmental reports as requested by the Car Parking & Security Manager. Provide professional advice at all levels of the organisation for services within remit of post.
