**The business**

We are a successful family run SME based in Gateshead. Our company is a great place to work, so we are looking for the right person to join our growing team. Our business manufactures, supplies and installs access ramps, platforms, steps, and handrail systems to domestic and commercial properties.

**About you**

Ideally you will have surveying experience, however, more importantly you will be the right person for our business so first and foremost, you will be empathetic and excellent with people. Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your style and approach to suit your audience. Great telephone manner. Good PC skills with the ability to use Microsoft office and financial software to prepare documents and input data. The ability to manage a high workload while working to deadlines, this will include prioritising tasks on a weekly basis. Surveying experience is preferred and knowledge of the building regulations (Doc M & K) would be an advantage. Excellent problem-solving skills with a can-do attitude. The ability to use an electronic drawing package would be an advantage however training will be provided. Practical and mathematically minded will be advantageous. Have a good knowledge of groundwork materials and be able to specify for concreting, paving, landscaping and fencing. Be an excellent team player yet have the capability to work effectively and efficiently on your own. Have good knowledge of health and safety. Have a strong work ethic.

**About the role**

The role is that of an access specialist. Carry out (ramp access) surveys, creating onsite detailed sketches using laser levels to provide accurate height differences for ramp gradients.

From the office in Gateshead, produce/send detailed plans and illustrated 3D images using an in-house drawing package that allows the client to visualise a finished installation. Provide office staff with detailed groundwork orders for each specific job including any plant and skip hire.

Work alongside local authorities, occupational therapists, commercial and private clients to determine the best possible access solution. Build and maintain relationships with all stake holders.

Work within the building regulations for disabled adaptations, for domestic and public access. Work closely with the in-house administration team regarding all elements of your surveying responsibilities.

Manage installations from survey to installation and be the first point of contact for the installation teams should any issues arise. Liaise with sub-contractors for pricing and schedules. Sign off completed jobs and create snagging lists when needed. Troubleshoot.

This role is integral to the business and requires a high level of accuracy, care, and attention to detail.

**Other considerations**:
Clean driving license (clean preferred)

Will be required to work away, on occasion

A willingness to get hands-on whilst installing equipment and groundworks during a 2-3-month training period (experience depending).

Support other business needs such as, deliver training, support business development initiatives, be involved in product development.

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
