**Job Specification**:
To provide care in partnership with Residents, with guidance and supervision from the Home Manager, Registered Nurses and senior Care Partners; and to undertake other duties to assist in the running of the home as required.

**Essential**:

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Commitment to Partnership working to create an environment in which “Life is worth living”

Willingness to participate in vocational training.

Satisfactory PVG check

**Desirable**:
Previous experience of working in a care setting

Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved or working towards)

1. Act as a key worker for a number of Residents. Ensuring that you greet any service users, for whom you are a key worker, on admission to the home and assist them to settle in.

2. Work with Residents in the provision of personal care including washing, bathing, dressing and toilet needs.

3. Respond promptly to Nurse Call System

4. Report any accidents or unexplained injuries immediately to the nurse in charge.

5. Ensure that Residents are presentable in appearance at all times.

6. Ensure that service users have any aids e.g. - Dentures, Hearing Aids, Spectacles etc fitted,cleaned and in working order.

7. Assist in the cleaning of the Home as the need arises, particularly dining areas after meals and comply with staff cleaning rotas.

8. Support infection control e.g. cleaning up spills immediately. Clean as you go.

9. Be respectful towards Resident’s possessions and ensure that bedrooms and communal areas are tidy and presentable.

10. Work at all times, within the guidelines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Employee Handbook and Company Health and Safety Policy and Procedure.

11. Be aware of all fire exit means of escape from the Home.

12. Ensure readiness to commence work at the time stated on the Duty Rota and not leave your place of work without permission from the Home Manager or Nurse-in-charge.

13. Adhere to the policy relating to personal appearance and the uniform policy whilst on duty.

14. Ensure that articles for laundry are sluiced if soiled before placing into correct container.

15. Read and implement the Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.

16. Ensure the appropriate segregation of waste material. That it is disposed of in accordance with current legislation and Company Policy and Procedure for Infection Control.

17. Report to the Nurse in Charge any changes in individual Resident’s condition and any other relevant matter, noting especially any changes in skin condition.

18. Report to the Nurse in Charge any verbal concerns or complaints raised by the Resident or visitors.

19. Recognise your own limitations and seek guidance from the Home Manager or trained Nurse in charge as appropriate.

20. Respect the rights of the Residents, including privacy and dignity.

21. Assist in the serving and clearing of meals, snacks and drinks.

22. Assist Residents to eat and drink, monitoring intake and reporting any concerns to the Nurse in Charge.

23. Complete all food and fluid charts and any other daily monitoring records as requested.

24. Undertake any training necessary for the completion of your duties. To be aware of Mandatory training and dates to attend training.

25. Attend staff and other meetings as requested.

26. Undertake any other duties as and when required.

27. Abide by all company Policies and Procedures in accordance with the Staff Handbook and Policy and Procedure File.

28. Take an active part in promoting a “Life Worth Living” for the Residents by enabling them to join in organized activities and providing meaningful moments, with the assistance of all staff groups.

29. Report any concerns re possible abuse of service users immediately to the person in charge

30. Respect the confidentiality of the Residents and the home life at all times, including when you are using social networking systems
