**Toolmaker Required**
My client provides technical and seating products for the automotive industry, rail, aviation, construction, office and retail furniture and medical products. My client works very closely with their customers/clients on the complete development process. This enables them to create optimum parts and ensures that all their products are fit for purpose. Moulding your ideas into the perfect product from inception to reality.
**(Toolmaker) - Position Overview**
**Making Tools**
- To produce a pattern/model of the required part out of a variety of materials (e.g. wood, modelling board etc) to meet customer specifications, working from technical drawings, plastic or plywood templates or from existing foam samples.
- To produce a mould using wet lay or cast resin method.
- To carry out welding to finish mould when required.
- To fit pins, frames or other components into mould when needed.
- To finish mould, polishing by hand, ready for production.
**Mould maintenance**
- To repair moulds either in place on the track or in the workshop as required.
- To make alterations to moulds when requested by Production.
- Where Production experience problems, to diagnose the cause of the problem and make the necessary alterations to rectify the problem.
**General**
- To liaise with Sales Department regarding new product develop and provide input for the purpose of quoting for new parts.
- To maintain tooling workshop area to the required standard of tidiness and cleanliness.
- To maintain safe working practices and methods put in place for Health & Safety reasons.
- To communicate and work effectively with other departments, in particular Production and Sales.
**(Toolmaker) - Position Requirements**
- Sufficient on the job experience and/or formal training to produce patterns to required standard and timescale
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Ability to work with a variety of materials including wood, metals and resins (epoxy, polyurethane, polyester)
- Skills and knowledge to safely operate variety of tools and machinery, including saws, planes, lathes, mills and welding equipment.
- Understanding and knowledge of safe working practices
- Knowledge and understanding of the Production process and the impact of tooling on this process.
- Problem solving skills, able to identify problems and propose solutions in the production of new moulds and repair or adjustment of existing moulds.
- Good communication skills, able to work effectively with others.
**(Toolmaker) - Position Remuneration**
- 42 hours a week
- Monday - Friday
- Monday - Thursday : 7am - 4pm
- Friday 7am - 1pm
- 28 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- £25K - £27K pa
- Company Pension
**Salary**: £25,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
