The Senior Buyer will be confident in managing the 'make or buy' process based on competence, capacity and capability. In addition, you will ensure you have a supplier base that meets the immediate business needs as well as strategic requirements, these shall be managed via a suite of KPI’s and metrics to drive down total acquisition costs.

Overarching responsibility to ensure Health and safety requirements for the organisation is met and reduce risk through the supply chain.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Initial set up of purchase Item master data for your project.
- New supplier introduction, set up, auditing and ongoing management in conjunction with the quality team where required.
- Project enablement for projects aligned to your commodities.
- You will be the “Supply chain” champion involved in new project introduction.
- Management of new item introduction.
- Backing off of customer terms down the supply chain.
- Focus in on “total acquisition cost”.
- Ensure inventory targets are agreed, set and achieved.
- Reduction of supply base for each commodity group with a strategic view.
- Yearly Price negotiation and cost down target ownership.
- Regular MRP initiation and actioning on recommendations in-order to generate smooth supply chain align with production plans.
- Maintaining high standard of purchasing practices in line with company quality standards
- Development and maintenance of supplier delivery schedules where required.
- Support the development of purchasing initiatives internally, externally.
- Drive a change in behaviour to deliver robust policies, practices and methodologies in the supply chain.
- Provide an escalation route in the fullness of time for the materials controller.
- Supporting other nonspecific / ad-hoc reasonable supply chain duties.

**Personal Specification**
- Automotive or aerospace background preferred, other industries will be considered.
- Low volume / High value purchase experience.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and detailed specifications with a modicum of skill.
- Experience in SAP B1, R3/ Hanna or other similar ERP system.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and externally with suppliers and on occasion customer.
- Ability to drive and coach change in a growing organisation.
- Ability to set and achieve own targets as well as targets set by others.
- Ability to work unsupervised in an exciting yet demanding environment.

**Desired Skills & Qualifications**
- CIPS qualified / working towards preferred.
- Technical experience in a similar environment would be advantageous.
- Negotiation, coaching ISO, AS9001, IATF16949 an advantage.
