Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Dermatologist MOHS based in the Department of Dermatology at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, part of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.

This post will be offered as a part time post (potential to increase) working both within UHL but with a session(s) also to be worked within the Alliance partnership which hosts the community elective care service. The Dermatology service is part of Specialty Medicine within the Emergency and Specialty Medicine CMG.

The successful applicant will join an established team of 8 Consultants and an Associate Specialist providing a comprehensive range of dermatological services.

It is hoped that the applicant will add to this skill mix and will be supported to develop a specialist interest.

At present the department in Leicester is the main secondary care provider for its local population of 950,000. It is also the only recognised provider of specialist dermatology services within the wider East Midlands. Established specialist services include:

- Cutaneous oncology (Leicester is the SSMDT for Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire and parts of Lincolnshire)
- A regional Cutaneous Lymphoma service
- Complex Dermatological surgery including Mohs micrographic surgery
- Allergic skin disease
- Bullous disorders
- Complex medical dermatology
- Paediatric dermatology

The Department is also a major teaching and training centre hosting the South Trent Training Programme in dermatology with 8 numbered training posts. The Department has established links with its local universities allowing opportunities for collaborative research.

The Dermatology service has a reputation for service innovation and has worked closely with commissioners to develop integrated community services allowing the base unit to concentrate on the development of specialist tertiary clinics. A recent service re-design has allowed the department to streamline both its oncological and inflammatory services, which are supported by a growing and motivated team of specialist nurses.

The successful appointee will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical audit. The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust consists of three acute teaching hospitals serving the population of Leicestershire. It is fully committed to Continuing Medical Education for consultants.
