**Specification Technologist**

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specification Technologist to join our Technical Team, here at Yorkshire Baker. The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for all aspects of customer specification, making sure they are completed in line with codes of practice. You will liaise with customers and governing bodies to ensure that all legal aspects of the specification are covered.

This position would suit somebody already doing a similar role, working with food or retail customers or somebody that has experience of doing specifications within an NPD or Process role and is wanting to transfer their skills and experience into Technical.

**Main duties include (but not limited to)**:

- Assist the Technical Services Manager by preparing draft and finished product specifications/pack on the customers chosen specification management system
- Making sure that a process review is carried out on all specifications and finished product spec to the pre-determined frequency and that all necessary amends are made as and when required
- To write, update and maintain specifications as well as all relating systems, for all customers, ensuring that the information provided is up-to-date and delivered on time
- Ensure all packaging is compliant, via packaging samples provided by intake deliveries and ensuring that procedures are followed for packaging and coding control
- Ensure all recipes, artwork and food labelling is legally compliant and meets customer requirements
- To be accountable to ensure annual shelf life and nutritional testing is completed and that the results are reflective of packaging, reporting any anomalies
- Create any labels for products ensuring they are legally compliant as well as satisfactory for the customer
- Proven experience of customer specifications within food or retail
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven food or retail customer experience, ideally Marks & Spencer
- Experience of retailer codes of practice/BRC standard
- Knowledge of legal requirements relating to food packaging & labelling
- Ability to multi-task and work at pace
- Knowledge in exports would be highly advantageous
- Excellent communicator at all levels and able to work as part of a team
- Computer literate with good numerical skills
