An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Charity Support Officer (Arts) to join the Bright Northumbria Charity Team.

For the past 20 years, Northumbria Healthcare’s Bright charity has developed an award winning healing arts programme. Over the next year, the team will embarking on an ambitious and exciting programme which will include two major new developments. The post is a 12 months fixed term contract with the postholder being required to provide support for this work.
- Supports the trust charity in all areas of work
- Supports the Healing Arts Programme Manager
- Co-ordinates arts activities in the trust
- Co-ordinates the trust-wide healing arts programme
- Co-ordinates charity projects and events

The role is part of Northumbria healthcare's Bright Northumbria Charity. The charity manages a wide range of activities and projects that make a positive difference to the experience of our patients and staff. This includes the Northumbria Voluntary Service (NVS), D/deaf Awareness programme, hospital environment projects, the healing arts programme and international projects.

Bright Northumbria charity brand was launched in 2012 and over the years has established itself within our communities, gaining traction across the region.

- Supporting staff health and wellbeing
- Developing special areas to step away from the busy clinical environment
- Providing state of the art medical equipment
- Investing in staff training and research to improve treatments and care
- Supporting projects in our community to improve health and wellbeing
- Primary contact for the charity, answering queries and responding appropriately on behalf of the charity.
- Work closely with the Healing Arts Programme Manager to deliver the Arts Strategy, Fundraising Policy, and Charity objectives
- Maintain and further develop relationships with existing arts networks, funders and voluntary organisations.
- Develop arts management systems to support the policy, including donation of art
- Develop and maintain a database of art installations across the trust
- Encourage and support engagement with the arts.
- Evaluate the success and effectiveness of arts events and improve the success of future events as a result through the undertaking of evaluation.
- Administration of art donations and fundraising, e.g. processing payment, recording activities/income, sending thank you letters, running reports.
- Update/report to the Charitable Funds Operational Committee with regard to fundraising and the arts programme.
- Planning and organising a range of charity events, e.g. art workshops, previews, music performances, cheque presentations, fundraising events, Christmas music programme.
- Promote the work of the charity through various media e.g. the staff magazine, staff update, website, social media, charity information boards, marketing materials.
- Update the charity website pages and develop content.
- Co-ordinate charity-funded projects to improve the patient environment: undertaking research, consultation with stakeholders, ensuring that costs are kept within budget, work to project deadlines and undertake evaluation.
- With the support of the Healing Arts Programme Manager, negotiates with a range of stakeholders including the estates and capital projects teams and clinical teams to incorporate the arts in a variety of clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Works with ward and estates staff to assist refurbishment of areas
- Under the direction of the Healing Arts Programme Manager, co-ordinates the trust-wide healing arts programme - consult with stakeholders, undertake research, source appropriate artwork, develop briefs, plan engagement events, curate exhibitions, oversee installation of artwork with contractors, undertake surveys and evaluation.
- Administration for art steering group, project groups and fundraising
- On occasion, deputises for the Healing Arts Programme Manager, in relation to projects and the arts programme
