**Job overview**:
Due to the secondment of the current postholder, we have an exciting opportunity to gain experience working within our gastro-surgery team, based at The James Cook Hospital site in Middlesbrough.

In addition you would be actively involved in the Trust Nutrition Steering Group and parenteral and complex enteral nutrition council, supporting delivery of nutrition and hydration improvement projects across the Trust. You would contribute to the delivery of nutrition education with a range of staff groups across your own specialist area and wider Trust services.

Main duties of the role would include;
- Providing expert dietetic care to patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal and surgical pathologies (including liver disease, HPB disease, inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal surgery, benign upper GI surgery, gynae surgery and urology) including patients transitioning from paediatric to adult services
- Manage patients requiring all forms of nutrition support, particularly parenteral nutrition and complex enteral feeding, including liaison with regional and national intestinal failure and HPN teams
- Manage a caseload of home enteral tube fed patients
- To deliver a weekly HPB outpatient clinic, alongside visiting consultants from local tertiary services, managing a range of HPB disorders and post-operative patients, and to provide expert dietetic input for patients with pancreatic exocrine insufficiency
- To deliver a weekly complex nutrition clinic alongside a consultant Gastroenterologist including patients with a range of gastrointestinal pathologies such as high output stomas, home enteral tube feeding, complex IBD and motility disorders
- To be an integral part of the trust nutrition team
- Providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to dietitians and dietetic assistants and students working within the gastroenterology and general surgery team, Friarage and community sites

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
