We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Ward Clerk to work within the Children's Unit whilst achieving a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification. In this role the post holder will be the friendly face to greet our patients and families and carry out administrative duties.

The successful applicant will be highly motivated and enthusiastic, previous experience of working in an administrative role is desirable but not essential as the post has a comprehensive training programme.

You must be able to work using your own initiative, but also as part of a team. You will have excellent verbal and written skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff of all levels. Organisational skills and a keen eye for accuracy and detail are essential for this role.

**What this Opportunity means**:

- The apprenticeship is a work-based training programme where you will be able to develop your skills, including English and Math's, and to gain a nationally recognized qualification in Business Administration.
- The successful post holder will provide support to an efficient and confidential clerical team with duties including making appointments, managing and preparing clinics, receiving and making telephone calls, while working with a varied group of staff.
- You will attend a 1-day Corporate Induction introducing you to our Trust & ensure you settle in

- As part of your development, you will learn a variety of administration and customer service skills. We therefore require applicants who have excellent keyboard skills, good working knowledge of MS Office and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. You will need excellent communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a great team.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.

The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with almost 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. The organisation provides a wide range of services offering health care to the whole spectrum of the population from birth to the end of life. The Trust complies with its terms of authorisation as a Foundation Trust.
