**Our Ushers play an important part in welcoming our visitors, customers, and members to the Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre, ensuring a positive experience through excellent customer service.**

We are looking for additional team members to join us on a Casual basis, to pick up shifts during busy periods and absence cover, with availability to also assist at other Newport Live sites as and when events occur.

Our Riverfront site hosts a variety of events from performances in the auditorium which seats over 450 people, to our art gallery spaces, hosting workshops and classes, and our cinema, which seats over 100 people. We are also the hub for fantastic outdoor events in the City including the fabulous Big Splash festival, returning this summer.

Our Ushers are important in assisting at events of all shapes and sizes, by helping to deliver a fantastic and safe customer experience.

**Main responsibilities include**:

- Welcoming customers at point of entry to the Riverfront, directing to the correct areas and assisting with general enquiries
- Showing customers to their seats whilst ensuring safe crowd management by keeping gangways and access points clear
- Always having health and safety awareness to help ensure all required regulations are constantly adhered to
- Familiarity of the Riverfront programme of events to promote positive interactions with customers
- Supporting sales opportunities through selling programmes, ice creams and other merchandise
- Assisting other teams during busier periods to alleviate queues and congestion, such as providing tickets, clearing tables or bar service

You should have passion for working in a cultural, leisure and sporting environment, and demonstrate our core values of Care, Passion, Teamwork, Inspiration, Innovation, and Inclusivity.

**Essential Skills and Experiences**
- Experience of working in a customer facing role
- Good verbal communication skills
- Comfortable dealing with large crowds in a busy environment

**Beneficial Skills and Experiences**
- Ability to converse in Welsh
- Experience working in a similar front of house role
- First Aid at Work certificate
- Health and Safety knowledge; particularly evacuation / emergency procedures

This can be a busy role, and the ability to cope well when working under pressure to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a polite and pleasant manner, is a must.

Due to the nature of the role, the shifts available will cover across mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Your availability for shift times will be discussed at interview.
