**The role**
We are looking to recruit several Practice Tutors for the nursing and nursing associate programmes across all fields of nursing (Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Children and Young People). The role is based within the School of Health, Wellbeing and Social Care at the Open University.
The position is part-time (0.123 - 0.150 FTE) and would facilitate learning in practice on Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the BSc Nursing: XK104 - Introduction to healthcare practice, XK211 - Developing nursing practice and XKYN326/7/8/9 - Becoming an autonomous practitioner.
The appropriate level of FTE will be discussed at interview, and there is the possibility of increasing the FTE later. The starting full-time salary is £37,099 paid pro rata based on your FTE. The position is paid over the full calendar year.
The position is home-based. There is a flexible approach to working which includes weekdays, evenings and weekends, negotiated to meet the needs of learners/employers. It is 3 years fixed term, with a probation period of two years. While the salary is fixed (per month), the workload demand varies across the academic year, and is linked to the practice module study calendar and portfolio assessment requirements. Other tasks will be required such as focused learner support (individual and forum), peer mentoring and working with the module team on enhancing learner experience and quality improvement.
The contract start date is TBC_ _depending on module appointment.
Person specification:

Key requirements of the post are:
- Current registration as a nurse on the NMC Professional Register, for Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disabilities or Children and Young Persons with appropriate experience for the student’s field of practice.
- Knowledge and understanding of contemporary nursing practice in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland;
- Demonstrable understanding of the NMC (2018) Future Nurse standards;
- The ability to support each learner to progress and complete all the apprenticeship/practice requirements of the programme they have enrolled in;
- The ability to provide constructive feedback to students;
- Experience of teaching and assessment in practice-based environments and working with the Nursing and Midwifery Standards for Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) in practice.
It would be an advantage to have:
- Experience of teaching online or an understanding of the pedagogical issues surrounding online teaching.
- Evidence of having taken the initiative to deliver better teaching and learning or to take advantage of new technology in teaching.

To ensure you remain up to date with developments in your academic/professional practice field, Associate Lecturers (Nursing Practice Tutors) are allocated 6 days (pro-rata) per annum for AL-led (i.e. self-directed) Academic Currency and 1 day, plus 5 days pro rata, per annum for Agreed Academic Currency and Professional Development.

**Tuition Delivery (Practice learning)**
Mainly online, however visits to practice settings throughout England will be required.
