The Machine Controller position is part of a team operating the extrusion process, involving the feeding, processing, monitoring and packaging of its products.
We offer a starting salary package totalling £37,200, including pensionable shift allowance, plus an annual bonus potential of 6% of base pay. This salary increases in 3 increments (assuming satisfactory performance) over a two year period, to a total of £40K plus bonus.
Benefits also include 25 days' holiday per year plus bank holidays, defined contribution pension with employer contributions of up to 10% matching double employee contributions, group life assurance and group income protection insurance, health cash plan scheme and cycle to work scheme.
Applicants should ideally have a manufacturing background and a reliable work record. Extrusion experience is welcomed, but not essential, as a full training program is offered.

**Basic Function**:
To operate all production lines and ancillary equipment with accountability for effective use of plant and equipment in meeting targets for Health and Safety, Production quantities and Quality.

**Roles & Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that all statutory and company standards for Health, Safety and Environmental Protection are recognised and maintained throughout the duration of the shift
- Ensure machinery is operated within Health and Safety guidelines and departmental procedures
- Work as an effective team member to meet production requirements from interpretation of given planned output information and knowledge of operator skills and experience.
- Complete production documentation to enable progress against production targets
- Liaise with maintenance staff to ensure optimum utilisation of production and ancillary equipment
- Ensure that product quality standards are met and maintained, support Shift Leader in making judgmental decisions where required.
- Ensure vigilance to any breakdowns and malfunctions, reporting them immediately to the Shift Leader
- Control process of mixing, melting, extruding, cooling, drying and cutting through all machines
- Assist with packaging of finish products activities as directed by Shift Leader
- Assist with Dye Shop activities as directed by Shift Leader
- Deputise on a permanent basis for the Shift Quality Controller or Shift Dye Shop Controller and work a minimum of 4 shifts per quarter as a Shift Quality or Dye Shop Controller. (selected individuals)
- Must work in compliance with the requirements of the site management systems (IATF16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001).

**Qualifications & Experience**:
**Education**:
Good level of secondary education including GCSE passes in Maths and English

Licenses & Certifications:
Counter-balance fork lift truck licence desirable

Work Experience:
Experience in a manufacturing environment

**Shift Pattern**:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 5 x 8hr shifts per week on the following rota (a week about i.e. each shift detailed below lasts for one week)

- 22:00 - 06:00
- 14:00 - 22:00
