**About A Healthy Life**

Our mission, ‘ A healthy life ’, aims to increase the number of years lived in good health for all, and particularly those most affected by health inequalities.

We are focusing on tackling two of the biggest drivers of lost years of healthy life: obesity and loneliness. Today, nearly one in three adults in the UK is obese, while some 9 million people report ‘always’ or ‘often’ feeling lonely. Our primary focus currently is on reducing obesity through improving our food environments i.e. making healthy food more available, accessible, affordable, appealing and convenient for all. Our work around loneliness is focused on the relationship between health and loneliness. We work across sectors - with businesses, national policymakers, local government, academics and other charities - in order to drive the changes we need to see to improve health.

**The role**
- This role will primarily be working on the UKRI funded grant to design and evaluate 10 interventions that aim to improve the health and sustainability of food. This is in collaboration between Nesta, Oxford University and Cambridge University.
- Using your outstanding skills in research design and in quantitative data analysis, you will lead, advise and oversee teams working on projects, primarily within this grant.
- You will work with partner organisations (such as retailers, caterers and food producers) to come to agreement on what will be practical to deliver in the real world.
- Oversee the implementation and project management of these trials. This will include intervention design, evaluation design, statistical analysis, and academic write ups.
- You will work with the Healthy Life team to synthesise and make sense of the existing academic evidence to drive action through generating and prioritising working assumptions and hypotheses to test.
- You will play a key role in supporting the Healthy Life Mission Team in setting and maintaining the highest research standards (from exploratory projects through to large-scale trials) for our organisation.
- Collaborate with the other members of the research consortium to draw out lessons learned from the project, and play that back to funders.
- You will prepare reports and journal articles for publication, and represent Nesta at academic conferences and external meetings.
- You will support the Mission Director, to prepare grant proposals, technical reports and other academic outputs.
- Line manage analysts working in the same area, and help to develop their research and evaluation skills.

**Required experience**
- Post doctoral academic or equivalent experience in experimental sciences such as psychology, economics, or biomedical science. Including strong knowledge of field trial design.
- Strong knowledge of academic behavioural and social science research in health, ideally in food environments.
- Competent in statistical software for experimental analysis such as R, Stata, SPSS, for the use of power calculations, data analysis
- Track record of publishing in academic journals

**What we offer**

**Salary**: circa £50k plus an array of benefits, including health cash plans, dental insurance, the ability to buy and sell annual leave, eyecare vouchers and more.

Location: This role is based in Blackfriars, Central London, but we offer flexibility for our people to work remotely some days each week.

Term: Permanent

Hours: This is a full-time role but we offer a range of flexible working arrangements and encourage our people to take advantage of them. Many do.
