Commodities Operations/Middle Office Specialist

The Commodities Operation Specialist enjoys a wide ranging role, with responsibilities split into a Middle Office support role that include daily management of physical positions, pricing and valuation queries, trade affirmation, and resolving booking discrepancies. Additionally, the role has responsibilities for T+1 reconciliations across a wide range of Commodity products, exchanges and Prime Brokers.This can include resolving trade queries revolving around settlements, expiries, commissions, reconciliations and desk/broker/counterparty queries. Utilizing the firm’s global footprint, you will work closely with the wider MO and Ops teams in Asia and the US, as well as daily interaction with Technology and the Business.

Principal Responsibilities
- Daily trade / cash / position / market value management across all listed Commodity Products
- Live monitoring of EU Power and Gas DMA platform products, working with DMA provider to manage Power auctions and intraday Gas positions.
- Resolving valuation queries from EU Commodity Portfolio Managers on live risk/P&L
- T+ 1 Cash/position management between different Prime Brokers
- Intraday top day trade monitoring. Working with PMs/Execution desk, multiple platforms, Gui’s, external vendors and PBs to ensure correct capture.
- Dealing with and processing expiries across a number of Commodity products across various exchanges (i.e. LME, ICE, NYMEX, CBOT) on both cash and physical deliveries.
- Managing broker relationships and having oversight of our third party vendors across a broad range of functions that are performed cross product on a daily basis
- Continue to develop and improve a robust operational control framework - RCSA - improving processes, tightening control gaps and realizing efficiencies
- Maintaining the integrity of firm financing rates and accruals and ensuring accurate month end billing for both Prime and Execution Brokers.
- Ensure daily regulatory reporting requirements are met for EU Physical Commodity products.
- Ad hoc projects working on implementing new products with key stakeholders across other groups such as Risk, Technology, P&L, Accounting and global Operation and Middle Office teams.

Qualifications/Skills Required
- Substantial relevant experience in commodities MO/Ops/Deliveries teams
- In depth knowledge of financial instruments with emphasis on ETD/OTC Commodity products. Must have a practical front-to-back working knowledge of these instruments and their mechanics (including margin requirements, valuations, etc)
- Practical experience in dealing with delivery periods on Commodities products and processing physical deliveries
- Ability to implement and maintain new systems, procedures, and controls
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet strict exchange/scheduling deadlines.
- Endur Openlink, Trayport required; Murex, Imagine, TLM would be desired
- Detail orientated; Demonstrates thoroughness and strong ownership of work
- Also must be an overall good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others both locally and internationally
- Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; strong sense of urgency
