This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to help Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council address environmental challenges by taking on an important role in delivering the council’s biodiversity agenda.
You will be working within the Biodiversity Team alongside other ecologists, and closely with the Ranger Services team and Natural Environment Team. Joining a growing team of biodiversity officers supporting this high priority work area, the Council declared an Ecological Emergency in 2021, and the teams responsibilities are growing as a result of this and the emerging Biodiversity Strategy.
As a Biodiversity Apprentice, you will work on supporting the team’s planning casework, monitoring of the green estate and onsite/offsite Biodiversity Net Gain, ecological data management, public engagement and other activities where necessary. They will be working closely with partners internally and externally in supporting their work and learning from them.
This is a Level 6 Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship, to be completed between 3 and 5 years, dependent on your experience.
The role has a hybrid model of working which is made up of 60% of the working week in the office and out in the field and the remaining 40% working from home.
