Apprentice Designer

**Scope**:To join the engineering team as an Apprentice Designer to develop into the role of Designer or Design Engineer. This will involve on the job training and mentoring as well as a part time course in a mechanical engineering discipline at College. The role is a 4 year apprenticeship where they will learn to provide professional support to the production engineering team in the completion of production valve design, BOM (bill of materials) creation, General Arrangement drawings and other contract documentation.

**Principal Duties**:

- Engineer, module plan and issue LLTI’s and Actuators
- Engineer and issue full valve BOMs working against a planned issue date
- Action sales amendments or NCN’s within operations engineering
- Creation of General Arrangement drawings
- Creation of basic drawings to support design engineers

**Other Duties**:

- Engineer Spares requests
- Engineer operations requests for purchase to manufacture requests
- Prepare other engineering documentation as required by the contract
- Support the department in terms of other general administrative duties

**General Skills and Experience**:

- Good communication, literacy, presentation, computer and organisation skills.
- The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
- Interest in Engineering
- The ability to work as part of a team.

**Skills you will gain**
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering - (Higher Level 4 Apprentice Qualification)
- Product knowledge.
- Understand quality, HSE and commercial issues.
- Technical awareness.
- Working experience in an engineering office environment
- Experience within a general engineering background.
- 2D and 3D CAD (Inventor) Knowledge
