**Job Purpose**

To develop Estimating skills and knowledge with the support of the Estimating to learn how to provide administrative and technical support and assistance to the estimating department in the day to day production of tender submissions in liaison with FK’s internal departments, supply chain partners and external clients.

The Role Holder will have an enthusiastic ‘Can Do’ positive attitude, be well organised and have a great attention to detail.

**Qualifications**

In the Estimating apprenticeship you will study towards a NVQ Level 3 in Construction Contracting Operations - Estimating, blending theoretical knowledge with applied professional skills and competencies.

**Entry Requirements**:
English Language & Mathematics at grade C / Level 4 OR above or equivalent Functional Skills level 2.

**Main duties**
- In conjunction with the commercial team to attend initial tender meetings with the client and senior departmental colleagues to establish the key details about the project that will enable the preparation of an accurate initial estimate;
- To obtain accurate supplier, subcontractor and plant quotes relevant to the tender documents on a project by project basis
- To assist with the collation of the requisite information to support/clarify our tender submission i.e. marked up drawings, clarification/deviation schedule, qualifications etc;
- To review the tender returns from suppliers and any subcontractors working on the project to ensure their compliance with FK’s master tender documents. Where appropriate, to attend meetings with senior departmental colleagues, subcontractors and suppliers to co-ordinate the tender documents and to then provide either clarification and/or amendment of the company’s bid or to request that the supplier/subcontractor re-submit a compliant tender;
- To attend internal project review meetings with the relevant FK project team members to progress the tender, including but not limited to, design, labour, subcontract, material and programme/sequencing reviews;
- To assist in the production of accurate tender cost for further review, as required by senior management, to agree OHP additions to the tender and to provide cost information/estimate build up’s to each of the relevant internal departments within FK;
- To undertake take off and to produce a detailed Bill of Quantities including fully written submission that details clearly any divergence from the client’s requirements and highlights any special conditions or clarifications;
- To highlight any issues relating to the client’s specification that have resulted from inappropriate materials and to offer optional solutions;
- To work collaboratively with other internal departments for the benefit of the business as a whole and to provide professional, helpful and proactive advice and support as required;
- To participate in the promotion of a genuine ‘safety culture’ within the business and to ensure the compliance of any direct reports with the Company’s Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality policies;
- To undertake any other reasonable duty as required by the Company.
