This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career and join a rapidly developing hydrographic office with many benefits over more common, project based, hydrography work. This includes regular hours/weekends, semi-remote working options, long term stability and a great work/life balance when compared against extended offshore deployments.

As an integral part of a small, dedicated team you will assist in enhancing navigational safety across our Ports on the Forth and Tay, providing an efficient and effective dredging, conservancy and hydrographic service to ensure all statutory requirements are met.

You will lead on planning, undertaking and reporting the results of bathymetric surveys to aid vessel navigation and dredging planning, primarily utilising Multibeam sonar and vessel-based laser. You will also have responsibility for providing regular reports detailing survey methods, metadata and any changes or obstructions, including IHO S44 compliance results, to support data for submission to the UK Hydrographic Office.

Also key to this role is the preparation of Topographic surveys for vessel dimensional control, port feature surveys and calibration of metocean equipment, including tide and weather stations. This will include supporting an array of fixed and floating AtoN’s which require independent position and condition checks, as well as calibration and maintenance.

You will have a Degree or equivalent qualification in hydrographic surveying and extensive experience in a hydrographic surveying role. A knowledge of dredging practices, and environmental sampling techniques is also desirable.

You should be comfortable mobilising, maintaining and calibrating hydrographic surveying equipment including multi-beam echo sounders and have a working knowledge of land survey techniques including Total Station, Level and RTK GNSS Rovers. A solid understanding of specific software packages would be beneficial, including: QiNSY, Qimera, Autocad, Dredge Master, Valeport, POSPac MMs, MS Office and QGIS.

Highly motivated with a real flair for problem solving, you will also have strong planning, organisational and communication skills and a good attention to detail. You must have a driving licence.
