We continue to grow and would like to welcome more people in our **Industrial Gases - EHS Team**. We are looking for an **Environmental Lead Advisor**, reporting to the EHS&Q Director for Europe.

**EXPERIENCE**:environmental background OR passion for the environment and technical background, good communication skills, positive and effective stakeholder management, fluent in English

**As the Environmental Lead Advisor, you will**
- Provide environmental leadership and technical oversight to EH&S team members, line managers, employees, and customers on matters related to business strategy, mergers and acquisitions, site closures, waste site auditing, policy and practices relating to the Company’s products, processes, and operations.
- Develop and review standards, procedures, training, tools, and audit questions to incorporate legislation and best practice. Assist with implementation and monitoring of environmental compliance programs and development of EH&S action plans. Be the European level design owner for the Compliance Management tool.
- Conduct the environmental & permitting training to the regions.
- Participate in and lead root cause investigations into environmental incidents. Peer review investigations to ensure these are thorough and complete for the environmental KPI incidents.
- Provide the environmental and permitting support for new business activities such as mergers, acquisitions, new plant and equipment, new products or businesses within the European region or globally if requested.
- Establishing risk management programs for risks associated with capital projects or changes/discoveries at existing sites and ensuring proper accounting for environmental liability in our Environmental Reserves or on our reserves “Watch List”. Escalating significant environmental risk discoveries via the EH&S Risk Management Process.
- Partner with other corporate functions (law, tax, energy, communications), other functions in the EH&S group and the Corporate EHS team to identify of environmental risks and exposures and develop risk management and communication programmes accordingly.
- Prepare performance reports and communicate the environmental information to line managers and employees to promote and maintain awareness of environmental issues. Assist in the development of plans aimed at achievement of environmental targets.
- Promote internal and external recognition and rewards for the demonstrated environmental excellence.
- Lead the identification of emerging regulatory changes and issues affecting our operations and acting as issue owner and champion for compliance strategies. Engaging in advocacy efforts and acting as Air Products’ representative on EIGA committees and other associations as necessary to educate stakeholders on our positive story and to protect company interests.
- Be the primary internal and external contact for environmental issues for Air Products Europe and the European Industrial gases association and deputise for the EHS &Q Director, where necessary. Advance and promote Air Products' external image by presenting at external and internal conferences. Liaise with customers, environmental groups and assist in preparation and review of external communications material.
**As the Environmental Lead Advisor, you already are or have**
- Technical qualifications or a degree in chemical, mechanical or Environmental engineering or sciences.
- Proven experience in chemical, gas or allied industries, including practical operational experience with environmental issues, environmental risk management and EHS auditing.
- Detailed working knowledge of European legislation and practices (including UK).
- Ability to work self-directed with minimum supervision; you are proactive, result driven and a self-starter.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, influence and communications skills built on a foundation of technical competency.
- Business acumen.
- Fluent English; knowledge of other European languages would be an advantage.
- Membership of suitable professional institution desirable,
- A genuine interest in safety, health and environmental issues.
