Our highly equipped 28,000 ft² workshop facilities are based 3 miles out of Hereford city centre and boast modern machinery in a clean environment. The company prides itself in continual investment in staff and re-investment of new & modern machinery.
The overall role of a purchaser is to buy products and services for the company. This will include identifying and researching prospective suppliers, preparing requests for proposals for suppliers, reviewing proposals and negotiating prices and terms. You will receive requests for specific products or services needed within the company and then get price quotes for those products or services. You will prepare and place purchase orders with suppliers and track orders to ensure that they are received.
Receiving products and services on time is vitally important for the company as we rely on suppliers to deliver parts so we can build our own products. You must ensure that suppliers deliver on time and resolve issues with suppliers when shipments are late. You will also resolve issues when purchase orders are received with damaged items, inferior products or other problems.
You can be expected to help reduce costs for the company by negotiating better prices with suppliers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Working with suppliers to ensure that key processes are running efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Processing payments and invoices.
- Building strong working relationships both internally and with key suppliers.
- Ascertain the best suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
- Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment.
**Skills**:
- Good computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook & Sage 50 Accounts Professional/ERP system (Training can be provided).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good telephone manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise.
- Ability to work as at part of a team or on own initiative as appropriate.
- Good organisational skills.
- Liaising with staff on & off site.
- Ordering and maintaining stationery and equipment.
- Sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post.
- Organising and storing paperwork, documents and computer-based information.
- Photocopying and printing various documents, sometimes on behalf of other colleagues.
**Salary**: From £22,000.00 per year
