**HEAD OF HOUSEKEEPING**

We are looking for an experienced Head of Housekeeping to assist with the smooth running of the five properties that are available for guests to rent for holiday stays, weddings, day time events and retreats. There are 25 bedrooms in total across the five properties. There is also a Stable Yard area used for weddings and events with additional spaces for guests to use.

This is a full time and busy role which will include managing the part time housekeepers, booking staff in for cleaning, keeping up the high standards our guests expect, working to an agreed budget, having the ability to clean as well as lead a team of cleaners.

We are a small, hands-on team who support each other to live our values; being open and honest and fair in our actions. We challenge the business, ourselves and each other and reflect on what went well, what we can change and where we can improve. We want to keep things real, showing all aspects of the estate from the architecture and the ancient oak trees to the worms and soil. We aim to keep things simple and make sure we have time for playfulness within our roles. All of these things are work in progress and we are looking for like-minded people to join us on our journey.

**About Boconnoc**:
Boconnoc is a privately owned rural estate, situated near Lostwithiel in East Cornwall. The main house was restored and brought back to life by Anthony and Elizabeth Fortescue and a small team of skilled craftsman between 2000 and 2012 and is now used for private and community events, weddings, retreats and holidays. Holidays and retreats include the opportunity for volunteer work involving anything from picking apples to seed collecting to planting acorns.

The team consists of a Head of People and Projects, Property Assistant, Marketing and Communications Manager, Wedding and Events Co-ordinator, Team Executive Assistant, Wedding Host, Housekeeper, four part time Housekeeping Staff, a Gardener and a Maintenance Team of two.

**The role will encompass the following areas**:

- Lead our housekeeping operations
- Hands on leadership working alongside the team
- Training and managing the part time housekeeping team
- Booking staffing
- Responsibility for the five properties - ensuring they are ready for clients and high standards upheld
- Overseeing as well as cleaning across the five properties
- Keeping up to date with the events/weddings/stays calendar to ensure properties are turned around and ready in time
- Final checks in properties prior to guest’s arrival
- Managing stock levels of cleaning supplies and linen
- Ensuring properties are ready for arrival of guests i.e. heating is on
- Ensuring properties are not using excessive energy when not in use i.e. turning heating down/off etc and windows are closed and doors locked.
- Recruitment of housekeeping staff
- Adhering to budgets

**The role will require you to**:

- Deep cleaning and day to day cleaning
- Conservation cleaning
- Ensuring inventories are carried out post event/use of properties
- Maintaining cleaning equipment in safe and sanitary working condition
- Ensuring laundry rooms are kept clean and tidy
- Ensuring laundry is counted in and out
- Liaising with contractors such as laundry company
- Monitor and report repairs/replacements
- Ensure guest experience is fulfilled with any reasonable request carried out quickly and to a high standard
- Locking and alarming properties
- Implementing and maintaining high levels of hygiene and health and safety in all areas
- Ensuring stock checks are carried out and food/drinks ordered for events

**About you**:
A hard working, self-motivated, flexible person with a ‘can do’ attitude is vital for this role. As there is a small team at Boconnoc everyone turns their hand to jobs.

Minimum three years of previous experience in this type of role is important.

People management skills are essential as the role includes working with and managing part time housekeepers.

The ability to work unsupervised, ability to maintain a professional manner at all times and maintain a positive attitude towards the residents, guests and visitors.

Key skills include being able to display integrity and honesty at all times as well as being able to follow and adhere to standard policies and procedures.
