We are looking for a Senior Bioinformatician with an engineering mindset that is used to monitoring the progress of complex processes with attention to detail, the ability to identify problems, and persistence in investigating anomalies.

**Job Purpose**

Working closely with the Project Managers who provide the run input details and the GEiGS® biologists who perform the output QC, the bioinformaticians play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality data on time.

**Responsibilities**
- Promote software development good practices
- Support other bioinformaticians through code review and peer coding
- Improve and develop processes to streamline GEiGS® Biocompute workflow.
- Coordinate GEiGS® projects across multifunctional teams
- Generate GEiGS® biocompute input data (eg. genomic annotation, gene expression analysis)
- Run and monitor GEiGS® BioCompute instances
- Support the GEiGS® team in analyzing and interpreting GEiGS® BioCompute results
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of the GEiGS® BioCompute
- Contribute to the development and improvement of good practices
- Design QA tests (including the generation of test data)

**Requirements**:
**Essential**
- 5+ years of experience in bioinformatics/genomic analysis
- Proficient with Python** **OR** familiarity with Python and proficient in another language
- Familiarity with pipeline management approaches (such as CWL, SnakeMake, NextFlow or others)
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and lead others

**Desirable**
- Familiarity with scrum agile working
- Knowledge of other scripting languages (Perl, Bash)
- Knowledge of R and MATLAB
- Experience with genomic data and NGS data analysis
- Experience with data management and lifecycle management

**Further Information**
- **Job Location** - Flexible (Norwich/Hybrid/Remote from UK). Occasional travel to Norwich will be required, as a minimum.
