Here at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals we have an exciting opportunity for an 18-month fixed term full-time training post in Echocardiography. This is part of the Echocardiography Training Programme developed by the National School of Healthcare Science and funded by Health Education England.

We are extremely keen to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individual that would like to pursue a career in Echocardiography. The training programme is open to cardiac physiologists who have an interest in specialising in Echocardiography but also other individuals with a healthcare or science background who would like to progress into diagnostic cardiology.

You will work alongside a very established and experienced senior team who are absolutely committed and dedicated to training in addition to our successful and current trainees.

Undertake the NSHCS echocardiography training programme and work towards completion of the British Society of Echocardiography accreditation.

The post holder will follow a structured training plan to meet both with clearly defined targets, expectations and regular assessments in order to complete British Society of Accreditation.

To assist in the training of Cardiac Physiologists within non-invasive cardiology to degree level in conjunction with the departments training co-ordinator.

Performing echocardiograms which requires intimate contact with patients.

Provide a safe, efficient and effective Cardiology service to our patients.

Responsible for participating in clinical audit activities, research and development and equipment evaluation.

Work collaboratively on a day to day basis with others and ensure service needs are met.

Commitment to working within teams.

Coaches and provides advice to others adopting a positive encouraging style. To annually complete the Immediate Life Saving certificate to the standard defined and accredited by the UK resuscitation council.

Maintain accurate patient data including accurate documentation and record keeping in line with Trust policies and have full regard to patient confidentiality.

Ensure all untoward incidents are reported and appropriate action is taken.

Observe and implement all health and safety policies.

Attend appropriate meetings and seminars to maintain professional development.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 18 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
