A global manufacturing engineering business require a Senior Buyer / Planner. Applicants need strategic and operational procurement expertise, MRP/ERP literacy, an understanding of material management methodology and the ability to lead a small team.

The Senior Buyer / Planner will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of supplies of materials/services to meet production requirements. Working closely with the MRP/ERP system, will drive best practice procurement activity and give leadership to asmall team across material control and purchasing. A highly visible role within the organisation, this is a great opportunity to drive change.

Specific duties of the Senior Buyer / Planner include:

- Supplier management - drive suppliers against operational metrics, negotiate and improve relationships
- MRP/ERP - interrogate MRP data - set buffer/safety stock levels and optimise inventory levels
- Production Planning - work closely with production planners to understand shortages/material needs
- Team - develop and drive improved performance from material control and purchasing colleagues
- Stakeholder engagement - liaise with engineering on supplier quality, sales on forecasting and general ERP

Senior Buyer / Planner applicants should meet the following criteria:

- Procurement, Purchasing or Supply Chain experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Ability to drive performance and give leadership across a team of Buyers and Material Controllers
- Well versed in MRP/ERP
- Knowledge of effective and LEAN inventory management and production planning techniques
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship skills
