Waddesdon is an historic house and garden open to the public. Created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild from 1874, it is home to the Rothschild Collection.
Waddesdon’s collections are exceptionally rich in fine and decorative arts of the 18th century, assembled by three generations of the Rothschild family. Since 1957 the Manor has been owned by the National Trust and today it is managed by a charitable trust, The Rothschild Foundation, under the chairmanship of Lord Rothschild.
Waddesdon welcomes over 400,000 visitors to the property each year and we offer a programme of changing exhibitions, talks and tours, family activities and public events. Visitors are both National Trust members and paying visitors, and the income from our shops, restaurants, events and filming helps support opening the Manor to the public, our education programme and the care of the buildings, collections and gardens.
**The Role**:
The Security Ranger (SR) will be responsible for ensuring Waddesdon property, staff, and residents remain safe from any possible risk to property or person.
The SR will work closely with the Head of Security & Transport (HOST), Security Operations Manager (SOM) and Security Technical Manager (STM) to maintain the security of Waddesdon Manor, The Rothschild Foundation, Rothschild Foundation Properties, and the Waddesdon Estate to resolve issues in an efficient manner and ensure high professional standards are upheld throughout the Estate. Also ensuring members of the public stick to rights of way and no trespass takes place.
The SR will patrol the larger Estate and buildings on a constant basis throughout their shift.
The SR will maintain an accurate log of all activity, communicate all relevant information quickly and concisely to the appropriate parties, identify potential issues and escalate an appropriate response.
**Responsibilities & Duties**:
Security
- To be the single point of contact for security related matters whilst on shift externally around the estate.
- To take ownership and appropriately respond to all security related issues, matters, and incidents.
- To identify any potential issues or threats and report these to the HOST.
- To help enable Waddesdon Estate control access and maintain its perimeter security.
- To patrol buildings and grounds, providing a high level of security presence.
- To lock and unlock buildings physically, if required.
- To liaise with external contractors in the event of an emergency callout.
- To effectively communicate all relevant information to the Waddesdon Control Room.
- To control and appropriately escalate a response to any incidents across the site.
- To account for all security equipment and keys daily.
- To ensure all required documentation is completed to a high standard and passed on to the HOST.
- To undertake any training and continued professional development deemed necessary by the HOST.
- To report any maintenance issues to the Head of Facilities, copying in the HOST, SOM, STM and Security Control room.
- Liaise with other departments as required to effectively manage the movement of visitors and contractors around the site.
Fire
- To ensure that all required fire checks are conducted over the period of their shift.
- To check the systems for faults daily and report any issues to the HOST and STM.
First Aid
- To coordinate an appropriate response to any first aid incidents across the site.
**Health & Safety**:
- To remedy and report any situation that represents a hazard, and ensure all incidents and accidents plus unsafe conditions are dealt with promptly and recorded accordingly.
- Take responsibility for their own H&S and that of others by following Health & Safety policies and guidelines.
**Essential**:
- Full UK Driving licence.
**Skills & experience**:
- Ideally at least 4-5 years of experience in a security role.
- Excellent attitude & willingness towards continued learning and personal development.
- Great facilitation, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to absorb and impart job related knowledge on a continuous basis.

- SIA licence to the minimum of Door Supervisor.
