The post holder will be exposed to a wide range of surgical conditions both elective and emergency.

The post holder will hold the on call bleep in hours (8am to 8pm) and will be expected to attend A&E and other departments for emergency and inpatient general surgical/colorectal referrals.

Education objectives will be set at the beginning of the post and progress towards these will be regularly reviewed. Opportunities for clinical research are available and the House Officer will be expected to take part in on-going research and clinical audit projects within the surgical departmen

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute Hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit and outpatient clinics.

The Hillingdon Hospital Surgical Departments

The department of surgery consists of 11 consultant surgeons, 3 consultant urologists and 2 Vascular Surgeons led by the Clinical Director, Mr Alistair Slesser/ Mr.Prabhudesai
