Crewe, United Kingdom Chance Changing Lives Full time

**Job Purpose**

The Van Driver and Logistics Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting the smooth, efficient, and effective operation of the Community Pantry and other areas of the Charity to ensure that our shop is stocked with the necessary fresh and stock food items supplied through our network of donors and partnered stores throughout Crewe. This will be achieved by performing the store collections on Community Pantry opening days, supporting the stock management activities at the pantry and off-site storage, and ensuring the charity van is fully maintained and available for use by other charity volunteers and managers as needed.

You will ensure that the people using the service and our volunteers are placed at the heart of everything the charity does in pursuit of its vision and mission.

In this role you will play a critical part in supporting disadvantaged families and children in the community. You will be an ambassador for Chance and will contribute to significantly reducing environmental food waste.

**Vision**: That everyone has a safe place to call home, with food to eat and an opportunity for their voice to be heard.

**Mission**:To reduce hunger and provide hope, promote dignity and social inclusion and create opportunities to transform lives.

**Main Responsibilities of the Role include**:
Co-ordination of the logístical support functions required to enable the effective operation of the charity including:
Acting as first point of contact for all logístical support activities and to coordinate activities with internal and external partners.

Undertaking Monday and Friday morning van collections to provide the Community Pantry with fresh food and provisions donated by our network of partner stores as well as collecting from our donation stations and ad hoc collections as notified.

Ensuring charity vehicles are clean and appropriately serviced, fuelled and MOT’d to be available for use as required.

Ensuring that Charity vehicles are available and stocked with the correct equipment to support volunteer fund raising events when needed.

Ensuring that regular collections have agreed absence cover in place in the event of holidays, sickness etc as may be required.

Supporting stock movement requests from storage to Pantry and vice versa as required.

Supporting other charity activities as required if scheduled collections finish ahead of time.

**Vision and context**

This is a physically demanding role requiring regular early morning starts on a Monday and Friday as well as an element of heavy lifting. You should be able to work within a quickly changing environment often with short notice to manage ad hoc requests for support. Therefore, a flexible approach will be paramount to the success of the role.

This is a demanding but rewarding role. You will be able to work under pressure and be confident in using your initiative. You will be comfortable working without close supervision and be able to make sound decisions and deal with any unplanned situations that arise.
