**Sustainability Advisor**:
**Overview of the role**

Do you want to join us as a Sustainability Engineer - ensuring that we make crucial decisions and report carbon emission based on the latest best practice?

You will play a key role in JCB’s Road to Zero strategy - which aims to be informed by the latest climate science to ensure that actions taken have the intended effect of reducing emissions rather than inadvertently increasing them.

**Your Responsibilities**
- Implement/ Adapt a global management system to allow JCB to track and report carbon impact. This should include:
o Agreeing and formalise the local processes by which JCB will report its carbon impact (including documentation processes)

o Driving Monthly reporting against climate change KPIs

o Agreeing & driving an appropriate Quality Assurance process (e.g BSI accreditation)

o Ensure adequate SOPs are in place to allow JCB to report in-line with best practice.

o Deploying carbon reporting training for JCB personnel

o Promote continual improvement and expanding carbon reporting scope as required.
- Identifying and project manage any system development requirements to deliver the above
- Keeping abreast of all relevant carbon reporting legislation and standards to ensure JCB is prepared for future requirements.
- Laying the foundations on the methodology required to report carbon emissions at machine level ready for the implementation of the “Ecodesign for Sustainable Products” Directive
- Be the JCB expert on Carbon Accounting to support and advise other business areas as appropriate.
- Development of the numeric sections of JCB’s future TCFD and sustainability reports

Skills/ Experience Required

**Essential**:

- Desire to help lead JCB to make the right decisions to help mitigate its impact on climate change.
- Understanding of key sustainability topics and how they relate to carbon reporting (e.g circular economy, recycling etc.)
- In depth experience of reporting against the greenhouse gas protocol
- Detailed understanding of the requirements of Scope 3 reporting
- Experience in data collection and cleansing
- Experience of reporting against appropriate KPIs & driving appropriate corrective actions
- Experience of quality assurance and/or auditing processes

**Desirable**
- Experience of carbon reporting in a manufacturing context
- Relevant qualification
- Experience of the off-highway sector
- Experience in writing/ approving SOPs
- Engineering background
