We are looking for a dynamic individual who is keen to further develop the exemplary Endoscopy and Bowel Cancer Screening service delivered at the University Hospitals of Hartlepool and North Tees of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme

To provide core team stability and leadership within a designated clinical speciality taking responsibility for the management and provision of Endoscopy services delivered at the University Hospital of Hartlepool and the University Hospital of North Tees

The post holder will work as a senior member of the team providing support and advice whilst ensuring the provision of high quality safe and effective care. In addition, provide direct clinical nursing care

Working with the Senior Management team the post holder will take responsibility for utilising resources effectively to maximise productivity, efficiency and patient safety, contributing to the delivery of the departments agreed KPI’s.

Ensure the assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of programmes of care meet the needs of the individual and that standards are set and met in the delivery of a high quality service

Provide professional knowledge and specialist advice participate in all aspects of patient care including admission recovery and discharge, working in procedure rooms assisting endoscopist to take biopsies and other endoscopy related procedures

Escalating patient care as required

Rotate with sisters to ensure effective and credible co-ordination of the department when undertaking the team leader role

Ensure own understanding and show compliance with the NMC Code of Professional conduct/Health Professional Council guidelines for Professional Practice and promote same in others

Create a physical and psychological environment, conducive to providing optimum nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures

To ensure a high level of professional awareness, both personally and within the department and wider Trust by holding and attending appropriate meetings and seminars.

Initiate, lead and participate in endoscopy department working groups.

Actively engages in all aspects of clinical governance pertinent to the Endoscopy department

Participate in the maintenance of Quality Assurance, Standards and Audit

To be aware of fiscal constraints

Proactive in the auditing of standards in the Directorate’s High impact initiatives and saving lives benchmarking scores

Demonstrates promotion and dissemination of current research and audit findings

Preventions and control of hospital acquired infection by ensuring close liaison with the Trusts control of infection department

Implementation of Trust Risk Management Strategy and understand implications of same within area of work

To manage resources effectively and efficiently, identify and plan to resolve deficiencies, to ensure high quality safe patient care

Take charge of the unit and deal with managerial issues, as they arise, in the absence of the department matron
