- Purpose of the Role:

- Global Technical: Science and Technology (S&T) provides technical leadership for Diageo’s Whisky, Spirits, Beer, RTD and Non-Alc business globally.
- The purpose of the role is to deliver analytical measurement and insight in order to improve Diageo’s manufacturing processes and enable new ventures. This role carries out Brand Equity Compliance Analysis and Customer Concerns investigations on behalf of the Brand Owners to ensure Global Quality Standards are met for our products across our global production sites. The role also includes carrying out analytical investigations to support business activities across all our categories and functions.

The role will include extensive lab work using techniques such as NIR, GC, IC and HPLC. The role will also include support the development of new analytical methods in response to emerging risks. The role requires a proactive approach in interpretation of results to assist production sites in root cause problem solving, new product manufacturing and improvement projects. Sensory is a key aspect of the role and involves active participation in sensory panels, yearly accreditation and external proficiency schemes.

The role is based at the Analytical laboratory at the Diageo Technical Centre, Menstrie. The role holder will be expected to communicate with sites around the world and occasionally travel. This role reports to the Laboratory Senior Specialist

Requirements - Capabilities, Skills & Experience:
- Qualifications - As a minimum at entry level the jobholder should be degree qualified in science or equivalent. Alternatively, a minimum of 5 years' experience in an analytical or food science laboratory.-
- Good practical knowledge of operation, and maintenance of analytical techniques such as GC, HPLC, IC and NIR. Experience of Sensory-
- Experience of Brewing and/ or Distilling and/ or Food and Drink Manufacture. Knowledge of the science and technology of brewing and distilling and associated processes.-
- Communication -Clear thinker and communicator with good analytical and planning skills. Excellent communication skills - verbal & written, and an ability to influence internal and external partners.-
