Person specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- At least 5 years in accredited Chemical Pathology (Metabolic Medicine) training posts.

Desirable criteria
- Consultant intervieRelevant higher degree (MD, PHD, MSc)

Experience

Essential criteria
- Evidenced technical skills: Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals
- Able to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within the speciality and make decisions at consultant level.

Desirable criteria
- Specific training in communication skills

Management Skills

Essential criteria
- Able to delegate appropriately.
- Able to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery.
- Able to teach and support junior staff effectively.

Desirable criteria
- Higher management degree or qualification or training

Practical Requirements

Essential criteria
- Ability to travel between City Hospital Campus and Queen’s Medical Centre campus

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
