**About the role**:
Reporting to the QC Incoming Goods Supervisor the purpose of this post is sampling and inspecting incoming deliveries of all types of packaging components, recording results of inspections and issuing pass labels as appropriate. It will also include dealing with suppliers over component quality issues and sending out samples as required.

This post is factory based and requires strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Health and Safety Regulations. Record keeping is required into master documentation and onto computer databases, therefore, accuracy and attention to detail are paramount at all times.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**

Following training, the key duties of the post as follows:

- To sample and inspect incoming deliveries of all types of packaging components in accordance with departmental procedures and specifications.
- To prepare new packaging standards for internal approval, to send samples for customer approval and to obsolete old standards.
- To file artwork, record cards and batch documentation.
- To calibrate balances.
- To prepare and send customer/supplier samples.
- To communicate quality issues to the relevant internal departments.
- To contact suppliers regarding component quality issues.
- To issue labels and leaflets to production according to departmental procedures
- To carry out any other duties as deemed necessary by the QC/PQC Supervisor or QC Manager in relation to requirements of service.
- Ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times, and that walkways are kept clear of obstruction.

**Skills/ Experience required**:

- Qualifications at GCSE level or equivalent - _essential_
- At least 1 year experience of working in a similar quality role - _desired_
- Some practical knowledge of testing packaging components and use of equipment such as callipers, height gauge and light box - desired
- Experience of working within a GMP environment - _desired_
- Moderate level of literacy and numeracy required
- Ability to organise workload and work proactively on own initiative
- Ability to work in a logical manner as well as good observational skills and good eye to detail
- Flexibility - ability to react and respond positively to changes in priority and workload
- Ability to use computerised information systems to input, retrieve and update all relevant data.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft PowerPoint - _moderate understanding is essential._
